Brian oversees editorial engagement, price assessment and market coverage of key olefins and polymer markets for the Americas. He leads a Houston-based team providing real-time reporting of more than 25 commodity markets across major assessment hubs, including the US Gulf, Mexico and South America. He joined Platts in 2018 and has covers the US ethylene and propylene markets, as well as the polypropylene and MEG markets. Prior to joining Platts, Brian was a Senior Manager with ICIS and a Managing Editor with IHS Markit.


Kristen Hays

Senior Editor, Petrochemicals

Kristen focuses on markets in the polyvinyl chloride chain as well as petrochemical logistics and tariffs that impact the US petrochemical industry. She has been a journalist for more than 31 years, with more than a dozen years focused on covering the energy industry, including exploration and production, refining and midstream in addition to petrochemicals. She is well-versed in petrochemical import/export operations that involve ports, trucking and rail, as well as resin packaging and the ongoing buildout of crackers and derivative plants fed by cheap feedstock unearthed amid the US natural gas boom.


Kevin Allen

Kevin covers the US aromatics markets for Platts. He has served as both an editor and a managing editor for the Americas Petrochemicals team between 2007 and 2014. He rejoined the company in 2017. Prior to re-joining Platts, Kevin was an analyst at Genscape working on refined products and shipping and worked as an Editorial Director at Petrochemical Standard. Kevin holds a B.A. in International Relations as well as an M.A. in Comparative Politics and was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship in 2005, where his work focused on the correlation between European Union expansion and a rise in nationalism among those marginalized by expansion.


Phillipe Craig

Associate Editor, Americas Petrochemicals

Phillipe covers the polymer markets of Latin America, as well as US polyethylene markets, US acrylonitrile markets, and butadiene markets throughout the Americas. Upon joining S&P Global Platts in September 2016, Phillipe has spent much of the past 2 years leading the company’s Latin American coverage and helping to oversee publication of the weekly Latin America Polymerscan. Prior to Platts, Phillipe spent six years with the sports department of the Houston Chronicle, serving in a variety of roles, ranging from copy editor to writer to web producer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Houston and is a lifelong resident of the city.
