COVID-19 has caused global demand destruction and nowhere is that more apparent that in China. While the country's lock down caused the refining industry to stall, was it anywhere near decimated? Are the true knock on effects realized or yet to come?
While China may now be zooming down the road to recovery, questions prevail around what can actually be realized given a large proportion of the export markets are still miles behind China's progress. Are we facing a new normal where end-users shy away from consuming in such magnitude as before?
Join S&P Global Platts as we hear from Wang Lining, Deputy Director, Oil Market Department, CNPC Economics and Technology Research Institute (ETRI) on what the road to recovery will look like and what does that mean for us all.
Dr. Lining Wang is the deputy director of oil market research for CNPC (ETRI) where his main research fields include domestic and international oil market analysis, energy outlook, and systemic analysis of energy and climate change issues. He has been involved in many high level projects, written numerous internal reports for CNPC and the government sector, and publicly published over 40 high level papers or reports. He holds a PhD degree in Management Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University. |
