Energy Summit

Based in London, Chris leads and executes the strategy for Analytics, which combines in-depth commodity and energy market knowledge, analysis, and algorithms with fundamental data to support customers' strategic decisions. It encompasses organic businesses developed within Platts as well as legacy acquisitions, including PIRA Energy, RigData, Eclipse Energy, cFlow, and Bentek Energy.

Chris brings over 25 years of oil industry experience, 20 years of which working with Shell, primarily in manufacturing, supply, trading, and strategy. Before joining Platts in September 2016, Chris headed up Shell's Oil Markets Analysis division for four years, where he developed long-term outlooks to support the Group's investment decisions and strategies and as Shell Trading's Chief Economist providing short-term market views to inform trading positions. Chris has also been a director of a number of shipping and oil-related companies. He began his career with Exxon as a process engineer at its Fawley Refinery in the south of England.

Chris received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Loughborough University.

Julie Mayo is a partner in the Global Projects Practice. While she has received particular recognition for her work in natural gas and LNG, Julie's practice encompasses energy projects and transactions throughout the value chain and in all industry sectors. Julie represents clients on all aspects of project development and mergers and acquisitions. Her project development experience encompasses all aspects of the project: from construction to commercial contracts and consortium structuring to transportation. She is well-versed in the analysis required to ensure appropriate risk allocations are accessed throughout the value chain and takes a pragmatic approach to problem solving.

Jürgen Guldner received an MS in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University, SC, in 1992, and a Ph.D. in Controls and Robotics from the Technical University of Munich in 1995. After a PostDoc with the PATH Program at the University of California at Berkeley, CA, he joined BMW Technik GmbH to lead research projects on automotive by-wire systems. He transferred to BMW AG’s R&D Center in 2001 to head the Advanced Engineering Group for Chassis Control Systems. From 2006 to 2010, Dr. Guldner acted as Chief Engineer during the development of BMW’s first hybrid vehicle, the ActiveHybrid X6. Following two VP positions in Chassis R&D, he took over BMW’s hydrogen research program in 2018.

Colin E. Parfitt is Vice President of Midstream, a position he has held since 2019. He is responsible for the company’s shipping, pipeline, power and energy management and supply and trading operating units.

Previously Parfitt was president of Supply and Trading where he was responsible for Chevron’s global trading activities for crude oil, feedstocks, refined products, natural gas and gas liquids to support the company’s crude and gas production operations and refining and marketing network.

Prior to that role Parfitt was vice president, Sales & Marketing, for Chevron Oronite Company LLC. He has also served as vice president of Americas Products, vice president of Finished Lubricants and president of Fuel and Marine Marketing.

Parfitt joined Chevron in 1995 as manager, Crude Oil Trading, with Chevron International Oil Company based in London. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Exeter in England and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Henley Management College in England.

Barbara Burger, PhD., is Chevron’s Vice President of Innovation and President of Chevron Technology Ventures (CTV). CTV addresses Chevron’s business needs through the identification and integration of innovative externally developed technologies that strengthen Chevron’s business now and in the future.

Barbara joined Chevron in 1987 as a research chemist and has held a number of management positions across International Marketing, Chemicals, Technology Marketing, Lubricants and Technology Ventures. She serves on the Board of the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) Climate Investment LLP. Her many civic and industry affiliations include leadership positions with Houston Exponential, the Houston Symphony Society and the Rice University Corporate Innovation Advisory Board. Beyond Houston she serves on the leadership counsel for Cyclotron Road, the external advisory council for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the governing board of the MIT Energy Initiative, the MIT Visiting Committee as well as the Board of Oil and Gas Climate Initiative Climate Investment LLP. Burger is an active alumnus of the University of Rochester and the California Institute of Technology. She serves on Rochester’s Board of Trustees and the university’s River Campus Libraries National Council. In addition, at Rochester, she established the Barbara J. Burger Endowed Scholarship in the Sciences and founded the Barbara J. Burger iZone, where students generate, refine, and communicate ideas for social, cultural, community and economic impact. At Caltech, she supports graduate women in Chemistry that aim to contribute through careers beyond academia and serves on the Strategic Advisory Board for the Resnick Sustainability Institute.

Barbara holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Rochester, a doctoral degree in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology and an academic honor MBA in finance from the University of California, Berkeley.

Katherine Neebe serves as vice president of national engagement and strategy and chief sustainability officer for Duke Energy. She also serves as president of the Duke Energy Foundation, which provides philanthropic support to meet the needs of communities where Duke Energy customers live and work. In these capacities, she leads Duke Energy’s stakeholder engagement efforts to develop solutions to meet customer needs for continued reliable and affordable energy – while simultaneously working to achieve the company’s goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Katherine joined Duke Energy in August 2020 from Walmart, where she led environmental, social, and governance strategy and oversaw stakeholder engagement on behalf of Walmart’s sustainability team. From 2007-2013, Katherine was at the World Wildlife Fund where she managed one of the world’s largest corporate-NGO partnerships, a $97 million sustainability-driven initiative with The Coca-Cola Company focused on water, agriculture, and climate, which was active in over 45 countries.

Over the past 20 years, Katherine has worked with a wide range of corporate, government and nonprofit organizations. Weaving together her intensive business experience and commitment to social and environmental responsibility, she brings in-depth insight to effective stakeholder engagement and an ability to ground sustainability into actionable terms.

Katherine is a First Movers fellow through the Aspen Institute, received her Master of Business Administration from The Darden School at the University of Virginia, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Colorado College.

Dr. Emily Reichert serves as Chief Executive Officer of Greentown Labs, the largest clean technology startup incubator in North America. As the company's first employee, Emily has spearheaded the rapid growth of Greentown Labs into a global center for clean technology innovation, attracting visitors and partners from around the world.

Emily started her career at Arthur D. Little as a Ph.D. scientist and progressed into R&D, business development, and general management roles. Prior to Greentown Labs, she was the Director of Business Operations at the Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry, where she helped grow the angel-funded startup into a sustainable contract R&D business with a mission to minimize the environmental impact of chemical products.

Emily also served as an MIT Sloan Fellow in Innovation and Global Leadership as well as a Venture Labs Fellow at Flagship Ventures, a Boston-based Venture Capital firm. Emily has been appointed to leadership positions on innovation, economic development, entrepreneurship, and clean technology commercialization at the city, state, and federal level, including the Massachusetts Governor’s Economic Development Planning Council and the U.S. Secretary of Commerce’s National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Emily has earned international recognition for her leadership in cleantech innovation and entrepreneurship and has received invitations to speak at international conferences such as the World Economic Forum Global Future Council in Dubai, World Efficiencies Solutions Conference in Paris, France; Les Rencontres Economiques d’Aix-en-Provence, France, and the Japanese Women’s Leadership Initiative Summit in Tokyo, Japan. She holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned her MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.

Akif is a Vice President in Goldman Sachs Asset Management where he is a Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst for the Energy Infrastructure & Renewables team. With over ten years of experience covering the energy infrastructure sector, Akif is closely engaged with senior management teams, research analysts, and policy experts in the energy space, and he presents his views at panels, webcasts, and investor forums. Prior to joining the team in 2011, Akif was a Financial Analyst in Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management. Akif earned an MBA from Columba Business School, an MA from Columbia University, and a BA from Northwestern University.

Vikrum is a Vice President in GS Asset Management where he is a Portfolio Manager and Senior Research Analyst for the Energy Infrastructure & Renewables team which manages almost $10 Bn in assets as part of the broader infrastructure franchise. Vikrum has spent 8 years covering and engaging with management teams as well as other investors in the alternative and traditional energy sectors, specifically through the lens of publically listed utility, clean technology and oil & gas companies.

Prior to joining the team, Vikrum started with Goldman Sachs Execution & Clearing (GSEC) in 2010 as a prime brokerage specialist covering hedge funds and broker-dealers. Previously, he worked as a consumer retail Research Analyst for Indea Capital and an economic development specialist for the Institute for Research on Labor, Employment, and the Economy (IRLEE). Vikrum earned a BA in Political Science from the University of Michigan in 2009.

Daryl Wilson has spent the last 15 years working in the hydrogen energy sector presently as Executive Director of the Hydrogen Council and previously CEO of Hydrogenics, a global leader in fuel cell and electrolysis technology. Daryl is a certified Corporate Director and has served on several public company boards. He is a versatile leader with more than 35 years of progressive industrial management experience in environmental technology, operations, manufacturing, human resources, product development, and organizational change developed in world-class organizations, including DOFASCO, TOYOTA, and Zenon Environmental. He holds an MBA and Chemical Engineering degree.

Vikram Nath works as a Managing Director in the energy direct lending group of Munich Re, the largest reinsurance company in the world. Based out of Houston, Vikram’s core responsibilities include structuring and executing structured finance transactions in the energy space, lead and advise on the energy transition strategy for his business unit and serve as an integral part of the firm’s business development efforts. Vikram has over 10 years of experience in energy finance including his prior positions with Natixis and Credit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank. Vikram has an MBA from Rice University, Houston and an undergrad degree in engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Jeroen Visser is the Global Director of Hydrogen at Northland Power Inc. where he leads Northland’s development and growth in the hydrogen and PtX space in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He is a seasoned business and project developer who has been a strong advocate for the growth of a global clean hydrogen ecosystem to facilitate a net-zero carbon future.

Most recently, Jeroen was the CEO of a world-scale blue and green ammonia project in Mexico. Jeroen led the development working with investors, authorities and regulators, contractors, and other key stakeholders. Jeroen had various prior roles in the international nitrogen and hydrogen industry.

He holds a Master of Science degree in Energy Technology from Delft University (the Netherlands).

Dr. Robert Zeller is Vice President of Technology for Oxy Low Carbon Ventures. He has over 30 years of experience in the O&G and chemical industry, is a recognized leader in Operational Excellence, and has successfully scaled technologies from the test tube to commercial-scale several times in his career. Applying that knowledge and skill to CCUS and associated technologies is his mission with Oxy Low Carbon Ventures. He is the inventor for 12 US Patents, has made numerous presentations to professional groups, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas. He was also the recipient of the 2017 AIChE Management Division Award.

During his 20-year career, Carl has held numerous managerial positions in production and technical development and has played a key role in the SSAB – RUUKKI merger. Carl currently covers research and development for SSAB Europe, one of three steel divisions, which includes digitalization development targeting improved production stability and product quality.

A graduate of Ecole Polytechnique and Chief Engineer of the French Corps des Mines, Patrick Pouyanné held various positions in the French Industry Ministry and in ministerial offices from 1989 to 1996, including Environment and Industry Technical Advisor to the Prime minister from 1993 to 1995 and Chief of Staff to the information technology and space minister from 1995 to 1996.

Patrick joined the company TotalEnergies in 1997, with positions in Angola and Qatar. In 2002, he was named Senior Vice President, Finance, Economics and Information Systems in Exploration & Production, then Senior Vice President, Strategy, Business Development and R&D in Exploration & Production in 2006. In 2012, he was appointed President, Refining & Chemicals, and a member of the Executive Committee. In October 2014, he was appointed by the Board of Directors Chief Executive Officer, and simultaneously President of the Executive Committee. In May 2015, Patrick was appointed at the Board of Directors, and in December 2015, he became Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer.

As the Co-Chair of Van Ness Feldman’s Government Advocacy and Public Policy practice, Shannon Angielski focuses on developing and advocating for clean energy and carbon management policies on behalf of her clients, with a particular focus on decarbonizing hydrogen as well as carbon capture and sequestration (or “CCS”) policies. Shannon’s 20 years of experience includes working with the electric power and industrial sectors, equipment manufacturers, technology developers, trade associations and labor unions in the development, implementation and management of policy designs and advocacy strategies that have led to successful enactment of key legislation. Through her representations, Shannon engages federal policymakers, state and local agencies, key stakeholders, and non-governmental entities in developing creative policy solutions.

As Executive Director of the Carbon Utilization Research Council (CURC) and the president of the Clean Hydrogen Future Coalition, Shannon develops and supports those coalition’s federal policy initiatives. She also serves as the coalition's spokesperson before federal policymakers and the media.

Alan Armstrong became President and Chief Executive Officer of Williams in January 2011. During his tenure, Williams has expanded its reach, currently handling about 30 percent of all US natural gas volumes, through gathering, processing, transportation, and storage services.

Prior to being named CEO, Armstrong led the company’s North American midstream and olefins businesses through a period of growth and expansion as Senior Vice President – Midstream. Previously, Mr. Armstrong served as Vice President of Gathering and Processing from 1999 to 2002; Vice President of Commercial Development from 1998 to 1999; Vice President of Retail Energy Services from 1997 to 1998 and Director of Commercial Operations for the company’s midstream business in the Gulf Coast region from 1995 to 1997. He joined Williams in 1986 as an engineer.

Armstrong graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
