S&P Global Platts
For more than 20 years, the international energy markets have faced significant challenges; but it is how we have handled these tribulations that sets us apart. Leaders rise to the challenge and find opportunity amidst the chaos. The Global Energy Awards is proud to recognize and celebrate our community's positive impact on the energy markets.

This Awards program offers categories for both business and individual achievement. Most companies self-nominate and multiple nominations are welcome.

The 2020 nominations will be open June 1 - September 10.

To nominate, review the list of categories. You will find a link to the nomination template, the judging criteria and the online nomination form on each category description.

Nomination Categories:

Award of Excellence – Upstream Transformation

This award is open to integrated energy companies, on and offshore drilling services, upstream oil and gas organizations and specialist exploration companies.

Judges seek companies that are firmly weathering the downturn, for instance creating innovative financial solutions, establishing world-class standards in E&P, reaching new levels of technical excellence and bringing complex and/or difficult projects to completion.

In addition to optimized operational practices, the winner will have clearly demonstrated its commitment to emissions reductions, safer extraction techniques and investments in technology, while providing economic benefits to its communities.

Judges will focus on evidence of industry-wide impact since January 2019, in addition to considering the three-year track record of an entrant.

This award is open to all organizations that store, transport, or facilitate trade of energy; most notable are operators such as shipping, railways, tankers, ports, storage, trading organizations and oil, gas and NGL pipelines.

An ever-important midstream sector straddles a struggling value chain. Production cuts have strained incremental volumes and processing activity, while concerns over costs and depressed consumption reside further downstream.

The winner will best exhibit its adaptation to this unique landscape, fluctuating fundamentals and establishing its reliability amid uncertain consumer markets.

Entries should highlight how innovative their organization is, in terms of connecting markets providing the highest standard of customer service and safety.

Recognizing exceptional operational and financial performance in a dynamic downstream sector, judges will look for a company that is challenging perceptions of what a downstream company does, adjusting to changing currents and new ways in which the world operates. Frontrunners consider what is best for consumers and society, while still expanding their business.

Navigating a new course that looks nothing like years past, leaders are modifying their operations rapidly and robustly to provide much needed essential supplies to markets old and new.

Entries should focus on innovative solutions, adaptation to social and environmental responsibility, and ultimately creating opportunities in uncharted and turbulent times.

Award of Excellence – LNG

The award is open to all players in the LNG value chain, including producers, buyers, portfolio players, traders, financial companies, shippers, and technology innovators.

2020 has seen a sea of change in the LNG industry. Waves of sporadic demand have surged and crashed due to the recent pandemic as lockdowns roll around the world. Final Investment Decisions (FIDs) on new projects have ground to a halt, and price forecasts have been updated at an unseen regularity. In this climate, only the most considered, well-planned and adaptive companies can deliver industry-renowned excellence.

Entries should focus on high-performance in LNG areas including innovation, flexibility, efficiency and partnerships. Nominations might include organizations that have financed, or reached FID on projects that have successfully concluded LNG transactions, or more broadly demonstrated operational excellence within this commodity.

Judges will focus on evidence of industry-wide impact since January 2019, in addition to considering the three-year track record of an entrant.

This award is open to all companies in the energy space, including producers, traders, retailers and exchanges.

In these historic and universally-challenging times, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award illuminates the ever-important convergence of profitability and company values. Rather than an obligation, CSR is a voluntary commitment, which greatly motivates employee morale; is of fundamental interest to customers, investors and other key stakeholders; and is a key element of a company’s character.

Targeted CSR Award will highlight a CSR initiative that concentrates on a singular space, even if it has vast impact; while Diversified CSR Award welcomes programs that simultaneously concentrate on multiple areas; e.g. education, healthcare and economic prosperity.
